CONGREGATIONAL CARE

We care about you and we want to support and encourage you in any way that we can. Whether it's a prayer request, a need for counseling, or a hospital visit, we're here for you.

If you have an interest in being on our Prayer Team, Meal Ministry Team, or any of our Congregational Care Ministry Teams, we would love to talk to you. Please send Associate Pastor Sonny Flowers an email and he'll get back with you promptly.

Pastoral Care

If you need pastoral care, simply use the form and a pastor will be in touch with you soon. If you need immediate care, please call the church office at 336.766.0033: if it is after-hours or on the weekend, use extension 1004 and leave a voicemail. A pastor will contact you as soon as possible.

Prayer

We are encouraged to communicate with God through prayer. God invites us to pray for each other, and there are many at River Oaks who will gladly bring your requests before God. River Oaks has prayer teams who intercede regularly for the people of our church and for our community. If you have a special need or circumstance that you would like someone to pray let us know.

Divorce Care

Divorce Care features biblical teaching to help you recover from the pain of separation and divorce. It is a special weekly support group and seminar conducted by people who understand what you are experiencing. Divorce Care features support group discussions and dynamic video seminars, each of which is self-contained, so you can begin attending at any point. The Fall 2018 Divorce Care sessions will be held on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm beginning September 10.

Cost is $20 per person at the time of registration. Please do not let finances keep you from attending; if you need help with the registration fee, please email Pastor Sonny Flowers.

Childcare is available for a one-time $15 fee for children 5 years of age and under.

Hospital and Home Care

Hospital Visitation

When a member faces illness or loss, we want to know about it. Our Congregational Care Pastor and Hospital Visitation Team are prepared to visit any member who is scheduled for surgery or is unexpectedly hospitalized.

Meal Ministry

There are times after surgery or hospitalization when a few prepared meals can help a family get back on track. Our Meal Ministry Team wants to help meet your needs.

Shut-Ins

Our Shut-in Ministry is responsible for keeping in touch with and encouraging those in our church family who have active, chronic illnesses or disabilities. They can arrange for regular visits from a pastor for communion and prayer.

If you or a family member would benefit from this type of care, please send us a message and we will be in touch with you very soon. We want to ensure that those in our church body who cannot get out easily know that they are remembered and cared for.

Counseling

We all have emotional needs, and can usually lean on family, friends, or members of our small group. However, there are times when problems are more complicated and we need the guidance of a professional. When that is the case, River Oaks can aid you in finding trained, Christian counselors.

For details and fee information, please call Surecord at 336.712.2828 or fill out the Christian Counseling Inquiry form.

Men's Service Team

The Men's Service Team meets the third Saturday of every month for a time of fellowship, followed by a service project for church members, as well as others in our community who are in need. We begin at 8am with breakfast and prayer, then proceed to the service project location for our time of serving others. We know your time away from your family or work is very important, so we always try to finish no later than noon.

The type of things we've worked on in the past include:

  • small construction projects and yard work for our widows, elderly, and sick members.
  • annual outings to a farm in Advance with 60+ inner-city children for a time of fishing, food, and fun!
  • opportunities to help beautify the church grounds in the spring and fall.
  • disaster response projects in our community and our state.

If you would like to be added to the Men's Service Team email list for future communications, please follow the link below to the online form. You'll receive regular correspondence regarding all upcoming projects and events. We invite you to come and join other men in our church as we grow in our relationship with the Lord and one another while serving others.
