Always Ready

Always Ready will usher in a new season of mission and ministry. It is a next season for which understanding, articulating, and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, coupled with coming alongside others in the process of spiritual growth and maturity, will prayerfully shape and impact the Lord's church at River Oaks for years to come.

I Am Not Ashamed: Living Boldly Through the Gospel of Jesus Christ

The letter of the Apostle Paul to the Romans is a masterpiece of rich, systematic doctrinal teaching unlike any other book of the Bible. As one of the most formal, forceful, logical, and eloquent works ever penned, it has encouraged, empowered and challenged God’s people for centuries.

Follow Me

Over the course of Jesus’ ministry, there was a contrast refrain in his teaching. Again and again, he extended the same invitation: “Follow me.”

Christmas Eve 2020

Our annual Christmas Eve service oncluding carols, communion, and candle lighting.

Youth Sunday 2020

Our annual Youth Sunday when students share testimonies from the summer mission trips.

One Story - Part 3: Gospels and Acts - Epistles

In this third and final volume, the substance we have in Christ is revealed! The new covenant of the law, the ultimate deliverance from sin, the once-for-all atonement sacrifice…. these—and all the other shadows—are made incarnate, fully-human and fully-divine, as the advent of Jesus introduces us to the section of the One Story we refer to as the New Testament.

One Story - Part 2: Poetry and Wisdom - Prophets

In Part Two, we will spend time in sections of the Old Testament that are no longer in chronological order. Rather, they overlap, having been inspired, authored, and sprinkled into the narratives of previous volumes. The Books of Poetry & Wisdom are filled with expressions of worship and divine guidance. The Prophets, on the other hand, are rich in God’s revelation of himself. In all, we will catch glimpses of the shadows of the future Lord and Savior.

One Story - Part 1: Law and History

The Bible is one book—one amazing work of literature —historical, theological, and anthropological. It is the one story of redemption. In part one, we begin in the beginning. The books of the Law and History help lay the foundation for the story. We will notice the continuous narrative of God’s people as the story advances each week. In doing so, we will begin to see the many Old Testament shadows of the One who is the substance in God’s grand plan of redemption—Jesus—the Christ, Messiah, and Savior, the One who is central to the entirety of this one story.

The Ruthless Elimination Of Hurry

We live in a busy culture and often fall into the trap of living a hurried lifestyle. This "hurried sickness" can be detrimental to our spiritual and emotional health.

Shadows of One to Come

In 2019/2020 we are exploring the Christian seasons (Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost) under the title House of Shadows. Our focus is on discovering Jesus in the Old Testament. In reference to the Old Testament Law, the Apostle Paul wrote to the church at Colossae: "These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ." We begin this journey with the Season of Advent and the “Shadows of One to Come” sermon series.
