Two Kinds of People

There are approximately 40 unique parables Jesus uses throughout the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke, and in practically every one of them, Jesus is directing a specific message to someone in the crowd, they were intentional teaching moments. In the case of the parable found in Luke 18, there are those listening who were deceived about their righteousness. In some way, they thought of themselves as especially right, or morally superior.

Luke is convinced of his calling to provide an orderly account so that all who read it can be certain of what is faithfully preached and taught about Jesus Christ. Luke writes with a passion for strengthening our faith and assuring us of the truth of the Gospel.
