Job Title: Facilities Manager (Posted on 11-14-2024)

Employment Type: Part-time (approximately 25-28 hours per week)

Overview:

The Facilities Manager is responsible for assuring successful operation and function of the church’s building and grounds in support of its mission. The position is responsible for completing and/or overseeing maintenance of all systems for plumbing, electrical, HVAC (heating ventilation air conditioning), security, lighting, fire safety, and pest prevention. The position also requires some familiarity with carpentry, painting, and general “handy-man” skills to maintain the interior and exterior of the church. The position is part-time, 25-28 hours per week. The position reports to the Director of Finance and Administration.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Resetting ministry areas to accommodate the differing needs of various ministries.
    • Set up tables and chairs in the Coffee Bar as needed (usually weekly).
    • Configure spaces as needed to accommodate special events like Summer Block Party, funerals, weddings, and youth fundraisers.
  • Program HVAC systems to ensure scheduled events have necessary heating or cooling.
  • Maintaining our alarm system and ensure the facility remains in compliance with standards set by the Fire Marshall.
  • Oversee the physical security of the building. In the event an alarm is triggered, be available to respond in person and reset the system, if need be.
  • Schedule the locking and unlocking of the church’s doors in accordance with the church calendar.  
  • Maintain the overall appearance of the building inside and out. The church has a contract with a cleaning company, but the right candidate will embrace the reality that cleaning is sometimes necessary to ensure our church is welcoming and inviting. This could mean:
    • Reorganizing and putting away supplies in the kitchen.
    • Washing and drying towels and putting them back where they belong.
    • Picking up trash in the parking lot.
    • Cleaning tables and chairs.
  • Maintain and order/purchase regularly used supplies (e.g., paper towels).
  • Clean and defrost church freezers, refrigerators, and ice-makers as needed.
  • Maintain an inventory of bulbs and batteries. Change lightbulbs and batteries as needed.
  • Work with the lawn maintenance company to maintain church grounds and ensure the property is inviting. Be prepared to help with snow removal or the removal of other debris after inclement weather.
  • As needed, place promotional signage beside Lewisville-Clemmons Rd.
  • Maintain exterior lighting.
  • Ensure our landscaping creates an inviting impression. Plant flowers twice a year and water shrubbery and flowers as needed.   
  • Provide behind-the-scenes support when celebrating baptisms by assisting with logistical needs (e.g., filling up the baptismal font, heating the water, and then draining it). 
  • Accurately maintain a record of all bills and expenses and submit a monthly report.
  • Assist with mail and any large parcels.
  • On occasion, be available to help outside of normal hours with set-up and clean-up for special events such as the annual community day, ROCC 5k, weddings, or funerals.
  • Coordinate with other vendors as needed for maintenance of the facility (e.g., professional electricians, plumbers, carpet-cleaners, etc.…)

Job Title: Middle School Ministry Director (Posted on 08-21-2024)

Overview:

The Middle School Ministry Director will work with the River Oaks Youth Pastor and partner with parents to enable youth to grow into mature disciples of Jesus Christ. This person will help oversee our Sunday evening ministry (ROCC Youth) to all students while focusing mostly on our middle school ministry. They will share in the responsibility of helping the youth of the church grow into mature disciples of Jesus Christ through weekly Bible studies, mission trips, camps, and occasional connection/outreach events.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Share in the responsibility of teaching the timeless truth of God’s Word to the students with a primary focus on middle schoolers. This would include everything from teaching to a large group on Sunday evenings to leading a mid-week Bible study or a small group.
  • Oversee the Sunday School Ministry and NextStep class (confirmation class for 6th graders); recruit, equip, and encourage the volunteer leaders who teach Sunday School and ensure that this ministry is aligned with the overall vision of the youth ministry.
  • Assist the Youth Pastor with planning mission trips, camps, retreats, and one-time events. This would include tasks like developing a budget, scheduling events, managing a calendar, developing promotional materials, and overseeing cabin assignments.
  • Prioritize one-on-one relationship with students and volunteers for the purpose of encouragement and helping them grow in their faith.
  • Help ensure first-time visiting students have a great experience. Create “in-roads” for students to become better connected at River Oaks by pairing them up with leaders and peers who would take them under their wing and help them feel loved and connected.
  • Assist with pastoral counseling and help shepherd students and their families through any crises that might arise.
  • Maintain a strong presence in schools and student’s extracurricular events/activities.
  • Help volunteer leaders become shepherds by providing small group questions, teaching material and other resources and build a great relationship with them as your team.
  • Assist in the planning and leadership of team meetings.
  • On occasion, assist with event planning for church-wide events.
  • Maintain a 40-hour work week. This includes maintain a set schedule of office hours and a flexible set of ministry hours. Ministry to youth requires atypical work hours and it’s encouraged to be present for student’s games, plays, school lunches, and be available for weekend retreats and evening Bible studies.

Overview:

Responsible for the music ministry of the church.  Duties include planning worship services, in cooperation with the teaching pastor and creative director, with a focus on music selection and leading the worship team.  Recruits, directs, and shepherds a team of volunteers for music and performing arts. As an influential leader in the church, this individual will have the opportunity to build on a solid foundation while having the freedom and ability to innovate. For the right leader, this opportunity offers the chance to lead, create, and minister for many years to come.

 Key Tasks:

  • In consultation with others, prayerfully plan and lead musical worship during weekly services.
  • Lead the worship team to include overseeing the weekly rehearsal on Thursday evenings, shepherding worship team members, developing a deep bench on the worship team, and cultivating worship-related giftedness within the church, particularly in those of younger generations.
  • Collaborate in the development of contemporary worship teams for children's ministry and youth ministry worship environments.
  • Participate in special events in the life of the church as needed. This will include services for Christmas Eve, weddings, funerals, and occasional Wednesday evening worship services.
  • Serve as mentor to younger worship leaders; provide worship ministry internship opportunities.

 

Skills and Attributes:

  • An ever-deepening commitment to Jesus Christ expressed through personal Bible study, prayer, moral purity, humility, and the fruit of the Spirit.
  • Ability to provide spiritual direction to a congregation to include praying aloud, extending a call to worship, or sharing a devotional thought.
  • Ability to engage others in worship with sensitivity to the work of the Holy Spirit. This individual should possess a genuine love for worship and a calling to lead others into a deeper experience of worship.
  • Accomplished vocalist with good pitch, tone, and projection and excellent musicianship (e.g., ability to chart and incorporate multiple instruments, understanding of music theory, and proficiency on multiple instruments).
  • Ability to recruit volunteers, build teams, and collaborate with others.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Familiarity with contemporary worship song repertoire (e.g., music performed at the Passion Conference) and hymnody with the ability to integrate hymns into a contemporary worship service.
  • Technically proficient using click/guide/loops, DAW, Multitracks or similar software.
